Sonora de León

Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico

Located in one of the newest suburbs of the city of Hermosillo, the house, Sonora de León, stands with high extended roofs and long concrete walls.

The placement of every main wall and roof provides enough shadow depending on the day-time, facilitating the use of elongated windows which can be opened for cross ventilation all over any area in the house when needed.

The main area, consisting of a living room, a dining table and a bar, opens itself to the entrance and to the backyard. The main contribution to the project is represented as the use of vaults because of the concern of the high cost of long concrete roofs. The use of brick vaults was suitable to provide high spaces with lower cost.
